A popular mapo tofu restaurant originating from Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture, will open its first store in Kyoto. The store will be located in Kitashirakawa, Kyoto. The area is home to Kyoto University and the University of the Arts, and is a gathering place for unique people and restaurants. It is also home to “Rakuda,” a famous Szechuan restaurant known to anyone who lives in Kyoto. The restaurant’s mapo doufu is a popular menu item, and you may be able to compare it with newer restaurants. We are looking forward to seeing how the locals will evaluate this restaurant, which has chosen a local location in Kita Shirakawa rather than a tourist area.
